Gaskets for timber stud

Most panel manufacturers stipulate that you should use a rubberised gasket between the panel and the supporting timber to prolong the life of the battens.
These gaskets provide a seal around the fixing that prevents water ingress in to the wood and can dramatically reduce degredation of the material and therefor the strength of the fixing.

If you are not using any horizontal trims then it is good practice to have a gasket that will completely cover the face of the support rails otherwise you will see the colour of the aluminium on the joints. Always check with the panel manufacturers specification to ensure you have the correct gasket
